a) The Association is looking for ACTIVE MEMBERS to join our growing ranks. Members that will regularly attend meetings, join in and contribute ideas, actively participate in promoting TIBA and its members, participating at exhibitions and within other media events and happy to be team players.

b) Introduce yourself and the nature of your business activity at the first meeting (no flyers or advertising media to be given out)(Business cards are allowed). You will then be given a members joining pack.

c) Take every opportunity to talk to members prior to and after each meeting so that the memberships have a chance to find out more about you, your background and your business, (it also gives you the opportunity to find out about TIBA and it’s members). This is very important, as it will help you to decide whether you wish to join the Association and if the association is willing to accept your application.

d) At the end of the second meeting, (assuming you wish to join the organisation) you must hand your application form, business card, a copy of your trading licence and your subscription to the Treasurer.

e) Your proposed membership will be announced to the group by way of Minutes of the meeting issued via email.  This also gives existing members not in attendance at the relevant meetings the opportunity to formally object to your membership, should they have a valid point of view. (Should we receive such a formal complaint against your proposed membership, we will contact you prior to your second meeting to discuss the matter further.)

f) At the second meeting we will ask for a member to propose or nominate you for membership, and also someone to second your application for membership. (This is why it is important to establish contact with other members as per item c). )  As from 1 May 2004 and assuming that you are proposed and seconded you are then eligible for probationary membership of 3 months, (Please note that you will have signed, and agreed, to abide by the Association’s Code of Conduct and any breaches in the Code of Conduct, or attendance could result in your membership being cancelled and your subscription forfeited).

g) A minimum attendance to meetings is required, and is currently set at once every month.  However, in most instances it is found to be beneficial for you to attend more meetings rather than the minimum, as most members find that the Networking Opportunities are a definite business advantage. The more you contribute to the Association, the more you will benefit.

Your details will be entered into the TIBA database circulated to all members and you will be added to the TIBA email listing to receive all TIBA literature and opportunities.

You will have the opportunity to include the TIBA logo within your company paperwork and advertising media, (quotations, invoices, fax paper etc).  You also have access to the TIBA link graphic which can be added to your company’s web site with a link to TIBA. 

As a full member you may now actively participate within TIBA advertising etc and may wish to take the opportunity to:

1) Address a meeting, and formally present your business to the membership.

2) Write a member’s profile on yourself, your background, likes and dislikes etc. This will be offered for publication within the local press, and additionally will be included in the TIBA web site along with your photograph.

3) Supply a testimonial from satisfied customer to be included within the TIBA web site.

4) You are now entitled to put forward suggestions and ideas that would benefit TIBA and it’s members through the committee for the meeting’s discussion points.
